During March, at Industria Chiquibul we partnered with AGREQUIMA to bring our first agrochemicals’ empty containers collection day, under the national program “Campo Limpio”. This program objective focuses on motivating and increasing the participation of stakeholders in the food production and distribution chain and ensuring a safe final disposal of all empty agricultural products’ packaging and containers, teaching different techniques and adequate management tools for safely disposal.
A total of 27,420 kilograms of agrochemical waste was safely collected and transported to Agrequima’s collection center located at La Libertad, Petén. Stakeholders involved included small producers in agricultural activities and supply chain, neighboring companies, and local communities located in Franja Transversal del Norte (Chisec, Alta Verapaz, Sayaxché, and Petén).
In commitment with our planet and environmental policy, at Industria Chiquibul we continue to thrive and promote the inclusion of environmental and sustainable practices in our operations. We are pleased with the results of our first collection day and will continue to grow this incentive by finishing infrastructure improvements for our waste collection centers and educating stakeholders about the importance of this practice for the conservation of our planet and a more sustainable future for our people.
We are the drop that drives development! #somoschiquibul
