Our participation during the CPAL Palm Oil Congress

During the last week of February, Industria Chiquibul’s sustainability team and corporate managers participated in the IV Palm Oil Congress CPAL held in Antigua Guatemala. With over 650 attendees from more than 16 countries around the world, the congress served as a sustainable palm oil knowledge exchanger and industry networking.

The palm oil industry represents 2.2% of Guatemala’s GDP, bringing enormous growth and development opportunities for the country. Guatemala is among the world largest palm oil exporters; during the past years, Guatemalan palm oil companies have reassured their commitment with sustainable production while maintaining production efficiency, making the country the largest producer per extension in the world.

Throughout the congress, our team held multiple field visits and meetings with clients and companies’ representatives. During the meetings, our 2023 Sustainability Report and plans for the near future were presented, and our corporate video was introduced. Juan Luis Pernalete, our Administrative Manager, was also invited as a panelist to talk about production and sustainable practices in the Guatemalan palm oil industry. At Industria Chiquibul we are working hard towards new certifications and to become a global leader in sustainability.
