Our Children Belong to Schools

At Industria Chiquibul we firmly believe that all children in the world deserve a childhood filled with learning and opportunities. Today, June 12th was named as the World Day Against Child Labor, focusing on a widespread problem that impacts millions of children in Guatemala and around the world. As a company committed to People and Human Rights, we thrive to give every child in our areas of influences multiple opportunities for their life and development.

As stated in our Sustainability and Human Rights Policy, at Industria Chiquibul we are against child labor, following strict protocols in our hiring process and extensive due diligence approaches before contracting new employees.

Following our purpose, we firmly believe that education is the key for a prosperous future and a fundamental human right. As a company we promote education programs and contribute with 24 teachers distributed among national schools around the area. We help with free access to school supplies and different activities that promote learning and growth opportunities to children around the area. Last year, we created the book “Chiqui and its aventure way home,” in which we introduce in a fun – and easy – narrative the process of sustainable palm oil production, from the field to the plant. We have distributed over 10,000 books around communities with the help of teachers and activities, and we are currently translating it to Q’eqchi’.

Industrial Chiquibul will continue to thrive and fight child labor and give children in our communities’ new opportunities for their growth and education. ¡We are the Drop that Drives Development! #somoschiquibul
