We believe that education is a basic human right. At Industria Chiquibul we continue to grow our adult literacy program to ensure greater access and improved quality of education to our collaborators and surrounding communities. Attached to our commitment to sustainable development lies our belief of empowering individuals and strengthening our relations with local communities. 

In the regions of Alta Verapaz and Petén, where adult literacy rates remain low, we recognize education as a fundamental tool for transformation. According to CONALFA’s latest national survey in 2022, almost 30% of Alta Verapaz’s and 20% of Peten’s adult population is considered illiterate, showing a growing number when compared to previous years.

Together with Conalfa, at Industria Chiquibul, we have developed a tailored curriculum and workshops to give our collaborators and local communities the opportunity to learn reading and writing and obtain a diploma. During this past month, school supplies were delivered to the adult school in the village of El Sauce, strengthening our support. Our program goal is to promote continued education and professional development and growth for our employees and local communities. Investing in education means investing in a better future, one where every individual has the tools to succeed.

Through our adult literacy program, we reaffirm our dedication to social responsibility, ensuring that sustainable progress includes education for all. We are the drop that drives development, we are Chiquibul.
