At Industria Chiquibul, we thrive to promote sustainable environmental practices and increase our production efficiency, while taking care of our plantation, environment and communities. Throughout the years, we have developed multiple recycling projects and waste management incentives to guarantee a good use of our by-products. One of these incentives is the agricultural use of the remaining fruit bunches after the oil extraction process, being a great economic, biological and sustainable opportunity.

Through good agricultural practices we obtain greater soil carbon storage, reduction in our CO2 emissions, structural and nutritional improvements, and a reduction in the percentage of losses due to runoffs.

As part of our continuous improvement, during the past months we have been working on a new environmental project, using empty fruit bunches, mixed with sludge, ash and fiber and reincorporated into the production cycle in the field.

In 2022, 30,000 tons of compost were applied in the field, compared to 60,000 tons in 2023. Our objective is to increase this compost application, naturally generated in the extraction plant by the re use of our byproducts, contributing with our circular economy and recycling incentives.
